"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side." Dr. Hunter S. Wolfgang's Vault! One of the major forces behind The Golden Age of Rock and Roll was legendary concert producer Bill Graham. He staged his first concert on 06 November 1965, in San Francisco, which quickly lead to the opening of the Filmore Auditorium (later Filmore West). This is where Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead got their starts, and where Bill introduced so many of the bands of that era to the world. He was also famous for the psychedelic posters that he had designed to promote his shows. ![]() In 1968, Bill expanded his shows to his new venue in New York the Filmore East. Before he closed the Filmores in 1971, Bill staged thousands of shows in those venues. However, by that time, he decided that Rock & Roll was moving towards large outdoor stadium concerts, so he became one of the first promoters of these new shows. At the time of his tragic death, in 1991, Bill had filled several warehouses with memorabilia from the more than 17,000 shows that he produced. This treasure trove of poster art, vintage t-shirts, concert photos, concert tickets and other rock music memorabilia is now for sale at Wolfgang's Vault. The holdings feature headliners such as Johnny Cash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Janis Joplin, Aerosmith, Jefferson Airplane, and AC/DC! This brings back some great memories!! Take a stroll through The Vault. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
